William A. Sorokolit
Consulate Development Group is proud of its history. As leaders in the building and land development industry, the company has been owned and operated by two generations of the Sorokolit family for more than 45 years. Based in Mississauga, Ontario, the firm is recognized for having conceived and developed a number of significant infill housing projects along with several large-scale master planned communities. Many of these residential and commercial initiatives evolved from 50-150 acre “greenfield” sites throughout the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). In all cases, thoughtful vision and effort were expended in site selection, zoning and land use approvals and site servicing/construction to bring a development from its initial stage of “raw land” all the way to a thriving and vibrant community filled with homes, schools, parks and shopping facilities.
Currently, Consulate Development Group is underway with three new residential projects throughout the Golden Horseshoe Region of Ontario, including the municipalities of Niagara Falls, Collingwood and the Cooksville area of Mississauga. These projects represent more than 3,000 homes coming to market over the next several years. At its core, Consulate Development Group will continue to pursue residential and commercial initiatives that contribute positively to the evolving urban landscape with a mandate to deliver eco-friendly, efficient design in a quality and attractive living environment.
Over the past several decades, Consulate Development Group has maintained its passion, integrity and a “hands on” approach in more than two dozen real estate development projects throughout Ontario and the southern United States. As we look ahead towards our 50th anniversary, we will continue to work collaboratively alongside our highly competent in-house staff and our experienced team of professionals comprised of planners, architects, engineers, designers, lawyers and environmental consultants which help to bring our project goals and company objectives to fruition.
Consulate Development Group welcomes you to explore our past success and to participate in our future. As we strive to create the timeless, award-winning communities of tomorrow, we will continue to build upon our knowledge and our expertise. With almost a half century of experience behind us, we will look ahead as we endeavor to meet the challenges and opportunities that present themselves in an ever-changing real estate marketplace.

Founded by William Sorokolit Sr – a visionary, businessman and life-long entrepreneur – the
company’s principles of integrity, hard work and dedication using a “hands on” approach was well suited to the complex business of real estate development. William (Bill) Sorokolit Sr. began his real estate career as a salesperson in the industrial/commercial division of A. E. Lepage in Toronto in 1967. After obtaining his broker's licence in 1969, Bill Sr. became a stakeholder in several real estate development projects throughout the GTA – Mississauga, Oakville, Etobicoke, Scarborough, Vaughan, Richmond Hill and the City of Toronto. In 1978, Bill re-branded the company as Consulate Development Group. His two sons, John R. Sorokolit (B. Comm) and William (Bill) A. Sorokolit (B.A.) both graduated from the University of Toronto. Today, both sons are shareholders of Consulate Development Group, having been active in the property development and management of more than a dozen major projects. They also hold their real estate licences and are registered salespersons under the Real Estate and Business Brokers Act (Ontario) with Sorokolit Realty Corporation - the family’s brokerage arm.
Consulate Development Group’s head office is located in Central Parkway Mall at 377 Burnhamthorpe Road East in Mississauga - approximately 1.5 km east of the city centre. The firm moved from downtown Toronto in 1979 to its own commercial property after deciding to focus on development opportunities in the dynamic and rapidly growing city of Mississauga (current population: 725,000). The Sorokolit family continues to own and manage the Central Parkway Mall, which is a 149,000 square foot community shopping centre. Central Parkway Mall has developed into a niche retail centre, providing a strong identity in terms of layout and tenant mix for a retail centre of its size. Its anchor tenants include Food Basics, McDonald’s Restaurant, Rexall Pharma Plus, Cine-Starz Theatres, and the country’s largest Passport Canada office. The mall also has a 30,000 square foot medical/professional centre on the second floor, providing an array of services to a densely populated city core.
